What is Final Cut Pro?

Final Cut Pro is a non-linear trackless video editing (NLE) application developed by Apple for Mac. The original version of Final Cut Pro X was first released in June 2011 and is available on the Mac App Store. The Final Cut Pro is the successor to Final Cut Pro X that came after Final Cut Pro 7, a widely used video editing application used by a variety of people, including industry professionals and studios. Final Cut Pro X was very controversial when it was first released, as Apple has basically taken a fresh start and rebuilt the app from scratch for 64-bit machines. Therefore, many of the features that would be needed by one of ordinary skill in the art were omitted in the first version.

Since then, Apple has provided iterative updates to reintroduce important features that weren’t in the first version. The current version of Final Cut Pro is version 10.6.1. The Final Cut Pro has an orbitless magnetic timeline that allows clips to be automatically pushed into place. This allows users to edit the footage of the storyline without having to move other clips or audio to other locations on the timeline.

Pros
  • It is extremely fast
  • Offers a lot of editing options and features
  • Simple user interface
  • Great built in effects and transitions
  • Easy to add audio and video clips and organize them.
Cons
  • It is not free
  • It doesn’t have color grading options like other Video Editing programs as Davinci Resolve

Final Cut Pro supports multicam footage, compound clips, and keyword management. All libraries, projects, and events are organized in a logical structure that facilitates data management. Is known for its ability to scale between small, low-performance machines and powerful machines like the Mac Pro and the new M1 Max Macbook Pro.

The great thing about Final Cut Pro is that it’s a one-time purchase. Unlike competing apps like Adobe Premiere and Avid Media Composer, which charge a monthly or annual subscription fee, Final Cut Pro X can be purchased for a one-time fee of $299. (Prices can vary depending on your country) The initial cost may seem like a lot, but since it was first released over 6 years ago, all updates are free, so most users can save a lot of money in the long run.
